Closed Cell Foam Pad
For the avid camper, there are a number of items that are on a must have list. Each of
these items add to the overall enjoyment of the experience. While some are optional serving only to provide
additional comfort, other items are necessities. The key to planning for a successful trip is to ensure that you
have gear which provides creature comforts. One such item is a closed cell foam pad. A camping excursion will be
tolerable without one but the added layer of comfort for bedding from the pad allows for a more restful sleep. It
may appear to be difficult to pack with other needed camping equipment. Proper planning during the packing process
reveals that it is an easy solution.
One of goals of a camping trip is to escape stressful situations and overwhelming
responsibilities. Traveling with a large amount of items is counter productive to both of these objectives. At that
same time, the extra perks are what make a camping trip more memorable. If you are going to use a closed cell form
pad, adapt a proper packing strategy. A nice feature of the pad is the flexibility. If you plan on doing some
hiking with a backpack, the pad can be rolled up within the sleeping bag or blanket. Tying it to the bottom of the
pack removes the burden. It will make the bedroll larger, but the weight is virtually unchanged.

With the closed cell foam pad properly packed, the next thing to consider is protecting it
from the elements. The foam material makes it quite flexible in regards to withstanding the elements of nature.
Regardless, no one wants to sleep on a wet or dirty pad. There are options as to the type of pad you purchase. Some
have been specially treated to prevent moisture damage. These will have additional costs but the advantages will
keep you warm and snug. For the more budget conscious, wrapping the pad in a tarp will provide some extra
protection.
Still not convinced in making an investment in a closed cell foam pad? It maybe that
camping isn't a hobby of yours. Consider the other practical needs for this item. Returning to the flexibility of
the material, a foam pad has many uses. It's great as bedding support, useful for outdoor activities, mats for
exercise, provides child safety during play and comes in handy while boating. There are likely many other practical
applications for you not mentioned here.
